I feel truly grateful to be participating in this year’sBattleof the Badges. To have the opportunity to be part of an event that raises such sizable contributions for the Shriner’sBurnHospitalfor Children, the Galveston Boy’s and Girl’s club, and GCSO Kids and Cops,  is a great honor.

There are so many people that have helped me get ready for this day. First, I would like to thank my family for all their support; Henry, Anna, Stephanie, Beanie, Mandy, Morph, Molly, and Max Quintanilla. Special thanks to my mother who has gone above and beyond, the true backbone of our family.

I would also like to thank all the people who have spent so much time training me; My dad Henry Quintanilla, Mr. John Doreck, Airman Hamilton, Deputy Banda, and last but not least Coach Carlos Patina. Thank you so much for training me coach, I know it wasn’t easy.

It gives me great honor and joy to participate in such a worthy cause. 

I want to thank Mr. Carlos Patina, owner of Patina’s Backyard Boxing Club, for helping me to get ready for this fight! 

Special thanks to Jorge Trevino, Jim Williams and Lewis Jackson for all of the hard work that they do to make this event such a success each year.

Lastly, and most importantly, I want to thank my mother, Maria, who helped raise me to be the man I am today, and my lovely fiancée, Erica, who I know will help me to become an even better man (and father) during the years to come.

　I am honored to be a part of this year’sBattleof the Badges event.  I am proud to have participated in the event the first year it took place and have really enjoyed watching it grow. I hope to help raise a lot of money for these worthy causes and give the crowd a fun show. Preparing for this event is very time-consuming, and a little bit stressful.  I would like to thank my family, especially my wife Anna and my daughter Isabel, for being so supportive and putting up with my preparations the last few months.  I would also like to thank all of my fire department family for their support, especially my crew at Station 8 on the A-shift; with an extra thank you to Mark Mahady who helped with my training. 

Lastly, I would like to thank Coach Carlos Patina for all his help getting myself and many other fighters ready for this event.

I am extremely excited about being a part of this amazing event and I hope to give a great show for everyone who is coming out.  The biggest motivation for me is love for my two kids who mean the world to me, Dominik and Destini Villarreal.

I also want to prove to myself that I can do anything I put my mind to, even when I felt like I couldn’t.  I want to thank my WONDERFUL Coach Carlos Patina who made me want to cry a lot, but gave me words of encouragement daily. 

Thanks also to all my co-workers, who I enjoy working with on a daily basis.

I am representing the great Code Enforcement Division, that doesn’t get enough credit for our hard work and dedication, and I am here to change that.
